Business Woman of the Year
A little while ago I was nominated for "Business Woman of the Year" and I'm really chuffed to tell you that I'm through to the finals! It will all culminate in a glittering awards evening when all the winners will be announced on Wednesday 6th May. Sadly I won't be able to attend the awards night as I will be mid-charity challenge cycling from John O Groats to Lands End raising money for Motor Neurone Disease. I should have made it to Lockerbie that evening (if all is going to plan!).
I did wonder if Sir Richard Branson would mind lending me one of his helicopters for the evening so I could nip to the awards and then nip back to the cycling for Bryan team and back on my bike! So I tweeted him ... I'm still waiting to hear from him! Then yesterday a Virgin hot air balloon dipped down just by the cowshed studio, I thought Sir Richard might be popping by to chat about logistics - but alas the balloon sailed by *sigh*
It has been a great experience being part of the nominations and getting through to the finals. I've been photographed, interviewed and filmed with the cows all of which is a great start to being in the studio full-time now.
Sarah Pullen, managing director of Gloucestershire Media, publisher of the Echo and Citizen, hosted a reception for all the finalists ahead of the awards evening and said: “This will be the sixth year we have run the Women in Business Awards and I think it has become an important showcase for this county’s female entrepreneurs".
What a wonderful experience!
