Mixed media on board | Collaborative artwork by Christina Sadler & Sam Morris
This painting began with an expressive, abstract foundation by Christina Sadler — soft marks, layered textures, and a palette filled with memory and atmosphere. The feeling was one of distance and familiarity all at once. A place once visited, now returning through light and shape.
Sam Morris responded by anchoring a quiet story within the piece: a solitary wooden bench, worn with time, facing an unseen view. There’s no one sitting there now — just the trace of past conversations, silences shared, or moments when time slowed down for a while.
The Bench We Used to Sit At is a painting about presence and absence, memory and stillness. A collaboration between two artists who work with emotion and texture in very different but deeply connected ways.
Part of the Cotswold Story collection, created for the artist’s pop-up studio at the Cotswold Designer Outlet.
This original painting has been created with mixed media on a cotton box framed canvas. It will arrive ready to hang with it's own certificate of authenticity.
