Create Light - Vlog #43

Create Light - Vlog #43

I'd love to create an eye-catching visual illusion that the neon light appears to be popping out of the canvas, but to achieve that I know I need to either take a risk, learn something new or gather new inspiration.

How to stay motivated - vlog #19

How do you stay motivated?

Me? Well I meet with other creatives and we challenge one another to try new things. Sometimes these things scare us but with a little bit of support and accountability we achieve so much more.

Light at the end of the tunnel - Vlog #18

Have you ever had one of those moments where you are so excited to do something new but you battle with nerves and lack of experience. In today's vlog I compare my experience of being a full time artist to that of navigating the canal networks in a 45 ft steel barge!

Let the sunshine in - Vlog #17

A large splash of colour across our fields, seas of bright yellow fields of rapeseed in bloom, inspire me with colour choices for my paintings. Yellow must be the happiest colour, just seeing it as the fields glow makes me smile.

Milestone Moments - Vlog #15

I was commissioned to paint something rather special for Cotteswold Dairy's 80th birthday. Cotteswold Dairy was founded in 1938 by Harry Workman. Three generations on they remain a thriving independent diary working in partnership with local farmers to maintain Harry's core values of great service and quality with a special addition of family values too.

Born in a Barn - Vlog #16

This week we're off to Hampshire delivering the original painting "Remembering the hay days" for Jennie and the team who work at de Mellow & Co. Their new offices are a converted barn, so I designed their commission to link to the history of the building but it also represents a fresh start too.

Make it Special - Vlog #13

Make it Special - Vlog #13

It's Vlog #13 and what better way to mark the occasion than the creation of a painting for a wedding held on the 13th April.

Original commissions are bespoke. They're made with the customers story weaved in and around it.

On this occasion Michael wanted to present Rebecca his wife-to-be a surprise on their wedding day.

Shared experiences - Vlog #8

Shared experiences - Vlog #8

Oh … shared experiences, the power of being together ...
There’s a something of a superpower that’s created with a shared experience, that I really, really I mean really love.  By simply being with one another we build connections, we amplify the experience and we create special memories.
My Dad once told me that "the best investment in life is to create memories”, it’s one of my favourite pieces of advice to this day and it influences my decisions both, big and small.
I’ve noticed in the cow art workshops how people come together for the day, share a unique experience, support one another and create a special memory.  To watch it unfold in front of me is really special.  I try my best to catch these moments without intruding too much on them.
I believe, if an experience is shared, it’s amplified, it’s more beautiful, more intense, it carries more meaning.  Like walking up a hill to discover a beautiful view or even everyday experiences like sipping a cuppa tea, tastes better with someone who’s sipping a cuppa tea too.
So go and put the kettle on and let’s have a cuppa tea x

Think different - Vlog #7

Think different - Vlog #7

In this weeks episode, we do something a bit different, you’ll ...
❤️Watch a shabby chic furniture makeover
❤️Watch the creation of a matching cow
❤️Be inspired to think different to get unique results
A special thank you to all of the contributors in this weeks' episode:
❤️Katie for all your help getting the table!
❤️Labels, for your trust in me http://www.labelsshopping.co.uk
❤️Catherine for naming the painting “Maisy Bee"
Working with the Labels team and learning about the big launch of “The Attic” I've been thinking a wee bit differently about how to create cow art that works within their 4 design themes:
Traditional, think country house meets elaborate
Quirky Colour, think something unique and fun (this could be me!)
Shabby chic meets luxe, think creams progressing to luxurious golds
Rustic, think of something unique from years gone by
As well as painting, I love to refurbish old furniture,  put the love back into it and I felt inspired to create cow art that matched that furniture.  On face value that might sound a little odd but I’ve just got an instinct that this will work.  I hope you enjoy watching the process and in future vlogs I will take you to see the display at Labels.
Every Sunday I will publish a short film that will take you with me on my ‘who knows where’ adventures finding inspiration and then back to the studio taking you through the stages of creating a finished piece of art.

Best part of the job - vlog#6

I paint because it makes me happy.  When I paint for someone else it makes both me and them happy.  Then when they arrange for the painting as a gift for their special someone it makes three of us happy!  It’s contagious, this happiness lark and that is why this is the best part of the job.
